nyc - eh - nyc - eh - ri - eh

Hello. The title is for the commuting that I have and will be doing till Sunday. Yesterday I drove to EH for the city. Today I drove the van back to the city and the car back to EH. Tomorrow car - ferry to RI where John will join me on Saturday for Mom's Eightieth Birthday party and we will return to EH on Sunday.

I am subletting till the 28th and then of course I give over my place on November 1 - January 31st .

The photo is a view of my apartment during the High Line Open Studios 09 tour. I has been a busy past few weeks. I am feeling more and more like I need to turn some things out soon and get back to work thinking mainly about the stores and the studio.

back from NJ

Hello. My very good friend Niclas just drove me to Chatham, NJ. to pick up a large painting that was at a designers studio. I am so grateful as I could never have done it alone. It is now back in my apartment where it will hang for a while. This Designer David Farrell put a frame on the 48"x48" painting and it looks huge. I was nervous to se what it would look like and I am very pleasantly surprised. It looks great, very stately. A frame can change the look of something so drastically. Without a frame the painting is very contempory and the frmae makes it look repsectible. I'll take a photo and post it next week.

The Village Voice Backpage

Ira Glass is a pain in the ass. It's fund-raising time for WNYC and I am a listener who has given in the past but not presently and I actually listen to music more. command Z is the back key on a Mac. on my laptop the keyboard is smaller and different so inept me was stupified when it came to needing that function. Today I remembered. Bravo!

Hello. These are links that Randi Goldsmith arranged leading up to the High Line 09 Tour. I was not even aware of The Voice Back-page. We love links. I am very excited, I should have posted the links days ago but things were hectic and I was not focused.

This image is a photo I took at a vineyard in Tuscany. This particular grape sits on these racks for ten years before it is turned into wine. I do not know any more specifics other than that it is very expensive. The room that they are stored in is dark, damp, huge (the racks go on for ever it seems) and amazing.

I've taken new photos for future posts but can not use till next week when things settle down.

I've made amazing headway into the cleaning up for my new sublet today. I am pleased as I thought it was going to be near impossible with all of the product in my apartment. The storage under my bed in my apartment is more organized and functional than ever. I will try to take some photos because it's interesting, to me anyway.

final day of high line open studios 09 tour

Hello. So this is it the last day of the High Line tour. It is a cold, rainy day in NYC. www.highlineopenstudios09.org So after a break from this post it is now 11:37 and I am listening to Joe Frank. Great radio - heaven. the tour ended very nicely with two couples, complete strangers. Very nice. www.joefrank.com

I have so much to do after the tour regarding my apartment. I have a sublet for one week that starts this Wednesday which means that I have to get the place in order. I can leave lots of art hanging but it must be put away and off the floor as it is now. Then my long sublet starts November 1st and that is the big move as I have to get the art back to EH. I think this is the last time that I will do a tour this way. There has to be a less insane way of doing it. Driving a van load of art to the city for four days and then getting it back to the country is a headache. I don't regret it at all but I think I have to realize that I do not have to have everything I've ever made (exaggerating of course but pretty close) present for the sale. As I've said in previous posts this is also a chance to clean things up and take inventory and stock pf things, bring things to the thrift store and basically clean house. Fall cleaning. So I probably will continue to do things the hard way because that I my nature. I don't want to do it half way. I have to go under the assumption that lots of people are coming and I want to put on a show for them and give them a taste of everything that I have done. It is better when a stranger comes and experiences me work for the first time because they really want to look. anyway, rambling here will be back later.

The image is a view of my studio out in EH and I am looking forward to the insanity of October and early November to be behind me so I can resume work. Maybe while I am waiting for the people that will not come, (call me glass half empty or realist you decide) I will hunt for art blogs. I have not done that kind of search for a while.
