HIGH LINE OPEN STUDIO 09 CHEK IT OUT...

Hello. I am really trying to push the high line studio tour. www.highlineopenstudios09.org

Crazy busy day. Did some painting, changed a large one that I am working on. I really love that I have no boundaries with paint any longer. I am aware that there will be people that may not react well to the new work but I have to believe that I will be a better painter for it.

I love this painting on the right. It is lighter than the image suggests and there are some beautiful passages if I do say so myself.

I had an image posted in this weeks East Hampton Star, the image on the left which was sent out to press before all my new paintings happened so it looks like nothing in the show. I have some paintings in a show with Haim Mizrahi at LTV Station in East Hampton and that group is more like the image in the Star. I am very pleased with The Star for putting the picture in the paper as the show closes this weekend and I am sure there were other things they could have chosen.

nyc high line open studios 09 registration deadline 10-1-09

Hello, So I've started my own Bulletin Board on www.ProBoards.com It is www.hilineopenstudios09.proboards.com For some reason this link (as of now) does not take you to my board so what the %*$# good is it but it is there the link on the previous post takes you there.

It is for the purpose of connecting with other Chelsea artists in the boundaries of Gansevoort St. up to 34th St on the West side. I am hoping to connect with artists in my area which is 7th Ave & 28th St. I feel a little removed from the big studios on Tenth and Eleventh Aves. But it is not that far and I think with the right publicity people will venture over.

This image is a view of my studio looking very neat. It is a photo that I use to show a prospective sublet.

High Line Open Artists Studio Tour 09

Hello. So I just found out about the Chelsea High Line Studio Tour and signed up today. www.highlineopenstudios09.org go to this site and register by Oct. 1.

I just started my first online bulletin board with www.ProBoards.com My board is called:
www.hilineopenstudios09.proboards.com

In hopes that I can connect with other local, neighborhood Chelsea artists who might consider the tour and then figuring out how to advertise our locations.

Suddenly October is shaping up to be a very busy month but I must do it and that is that. The image is one of my paintings in the show.

Keeping up my end

Hello. Check out my site for some images of my latest installation at Surface Library Galler. www.markperry.org www.surfacelibrary.com This image is of me with Sydney Butchkes at our reception on September 5, 2009. The photo was taken by Bob Bachler of Surface Library. Bob is a great potter, I have two of his pieces and would love more. Check out www.bobachler.com

So here I am on Tuesday after a good bike ride and some lunch I am going to go and practice my serve, check out bob At the gallery and then in the studio for the afternoon evening. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. I must be the most exciting person walking.

So it is another beautiful day and regrettably the forecast for the next few days is not that good. My baby is not going to be happy. I stayed up to late working and then watching mindless television last night. I am trying to remember what I watched and I can not. That is not a good sign. Either I am decaying more rapidly then previously thought or I just have a lot going on and the trivial things don't matter or my mind is like tephlon, nothing sticks to it if I could quote the very humorous Lily Tomlin from the seventies.

took some action

Hello. My site www.markperry.org has been updated with hi-res images. Here are two installation views. click on image to enlarge

So here we are Monday. A very full one ending in the studio making some new paintings. A friend also a painter decided that this was the moment to make a co-lab piece. I did have some input and ultimately He made a good decision. I of course have to have the last word but will keep the feeling one hundred percent.

Wow very happy that I have been able to be consistent and post a little more regularly. Spoken like a true addict, you can hear the guilt in the background. So the very abstract larger works are by Sydney Butchkes. More info on Sydney can be obtained from www.surfacelibrary.com

I have a great photo of Sydney and myself on my homepage. We met the night of my reception and I was very happily surprised that He was able to attend. As a matter-of-fact that night is a night that I should think about and write about as I did not have the foresight to hire a photographer. Going forward that is not a luxury that must be figured into the plan......Jamie Drake came toward the end of the evening looking great in light summer colors that look great on him, good looking tan on a really sweet guy. www.drakedesignassociates.com Many locals turned up for the reception, there was a steady flow of people that I did not recognise in addition to the many close friends and acquaintances that showed up...the wine poured. There was quite a bit of chic young action walking through my show. A Designer / Potter couple that I met that night. And I was told other Designers as well. The place was crawling with them. Again, regrettably I did not get names so every ones anonymity is safe with me. Did I mention that no one really took pictures.^* bad? $%^* #$& !*&(?

Wow I'm loving the blogesphere. Did I spell that right? That's *&%)($ %^.

Crucial week

Hello. So this is the final weekend of my show at Surface Library. www.surfacelibrary.com

I am trying to think about getting people in there and I mean business. It is so important that I give it my best most sincere shot at sparking some interest.

Tonight I will research and find out the right people to approach at the local papers and try from the Sydney Butchkes angle to get interest. It seems sad that this is a tough sell.

Tomorrow in addition to other things I plan on getting back to work. I think I will start in the studio and then take a bike ride for some exercise and then back to work.

Evidently there has been some interest in my largest painting in the show. It is a beach dune painted rather realistically which I've posted. We shall see, I think it is a good painting one of the few of this kind for me.
