Sunday Sept. 14, 2008 NYC

Hello All! This photo is a view of Banyan Trees from Florida. They have been an inspiration to me ever since discovering them a year ago. A truly amazing tree that grows up and out, limbs growing up then down and rooting and becoming part of the tree. The photo was taken at a resort in Boca with beautiful specimens.

I just cut and pasted the blogtopsites logo and with it the photo from a previous post. Oh well. Took the train back from EH and now in the city. Hope to do some good work on linking up my blog over the next week. That is a goal and to also try linking up my site. http:// www.markperry.org and searching out other blogs and site. http://www.conorfoy.com was a site that I found and liked. Trying to think about my next bit of work. I have large primed canvas and paper ready and I feel a little excited about it. I keep going back to Grass. Joe Frank just stared on NPR What luck. Will try and talk about it after. http://carolmarine.blogspot.com/ great painter just discovered.

Sunday Sept. 14, 2008 NYC

Hello Everyone! This is one of my larger landscape paintings. It is approx. 70"x52", oil on canvas. I had a studio visit yesterday with a couple who have wanted to get a piece of mine for a while. It was very favorable and they were drawn to larger paintings. This was in the running along with two large birch paintings. The final decision was one of my nine panel Banyan Tree paintings. I will be installing it this week and also they will consider two of my new Grass paintings. So we shall see. I am pretty sure that they will go with the large painting. The exciting thing ofr me outside of a sale is the fact that it will be hanging in NYC. More to come.

Thursday Sept. 11, 2008 NYC

I was checking out artist sites last night and I found this one site http://www.conorfoy.com This guy is a brilliant painter who lives in Brooklyn, NY. I was really moved by his landscapes. If I didn't like them os much I would hate the guy he is that good. Anyway it was a great find as it is hard to find great work - his accross the board was beautiful. I wished I'd painted everyone of them. That is my pick for the day. It woudl be great to be able to open each post with a new artist site discovery. It would get me off the political bitter bus. Well on that topic.........

Love that segway...Good Morning. I am trying so hard to think about painting and the creative process but when I see the news and I'm reminded of how relentless the GOP can be I am distracted.

Keith Olberman is the best man on television today. There is no one who cares more and who tells it like it is. My mother is a religious watcher of Keith andwhen I am home I tune in with her. His tribute to 9/11 was an amazing thing to watch.

This morning watching the news and the mud slinging by the GOP there was a segment on rude or sexist comments form the recent past form both parties.

Obama called a journalist Sweetie. Realizing his mistake he called the woman and apologized saying he slips and calls many people sweetie - just on of those endearing things many of us do. He was not making excuses in his apology he admitted that it was not apropriate. Anyway, this pales in comparrison to John McCain's swet little joke form the not-so-recent-past:
McCain Q: Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
McCain A: Jane Reno is her father.

Excuse me but that is the nastiest thing I have heard in a long time and it should have ended any hope this nut had for the highest office in the land. And then there was the time with his darling wife by his side, rather behind him, in a jean shirt smiling as he said, and iIam paraphrasing here Cindy will give these women a run for their money in a bare breasted contest. I wish I could quote him but you get the picture. Just a rude old f&*($#g man.

My mother worries that I should not say such things because they will come after me. I f(*#$%g welcome the a>?)(*^s.

Time to sign off and get some nourishment. I hope you all have a great day on this special, sad day in our history.

Hello World. did you hear me I was speaking in tongues. OK what the fuck is going on here. That should be a reason for being disqualified from this political game. After all a game is what this is, w/o any rules clearly. Picking this woman with more problems and more to be revealed...let's hope. abodabi, huminahumina, mby lbove tobu youbu gobod. translates to I am a brainwashed dumb fucking asshole with an ego the size of Alaska. Go ahead quote me.

I know that everyone out there is reading what I have to say. This painting is one of mine, done in 2007 from this group of large clover paintings. It is one of my favorites and I don't understand why I have not sold it. One reason could be that the only way people see it is if they come to my studio. Which brings me to the point of this blog an my website.

Trying to get the work out there... any insight peoples??? I find myself thinking that I should be painting and making work and this is a waste of time but then I think about the way I have led my life and realize that in regards to selling my work that the old way has not been working. I have made more consistent sales in the past couple of years, large paintings. And the reason is that I am connecting with a larger audience. This is what I need to continue. I have proven that when given the time I can produce work so I need to concentrate on the business end. Alright. Thank you.

This is one of my favorite posts so far I am loving myself as the original Kim would say from the original Kath n' Kim starring and created by Jane Turner and Gina Riley.

What's all this got to do with painting you may ask. It's all about humor and without humor we are f^%#@d.

Acupuncture today

The above site is called blogtopsites.com worth checking out.

Greetings Everyone! I am back in the city and having my second acupuncture session today in hopes of relieving my lower back pain. The photo is form today's session. If you look closely you can see the needles. It is the first time I've seen them as it is difficult to really look while in a session..anyway. Great stuff, needles and photo, Mitchell.

Anyway, did some uploading to my site today, added a page of paintings that I have sold and installed. I like this new page.

What's going on out there ?

Sunday, September 7, 2008

I am unable to post a photo today but maybe there should be days without an image. Yes. Anyway what is going on? John (the man in my life) and I played a little tennis, not badly I might add.

Started six 12"x12" paintings for Haim's show and we shall see. They are kind of funkie,
just paint and thinner so they will dry quickly and have a matt finish. i would love a little shine but they need to dry so I am putting this restriction on myself. They were fun for me and I thought abou the drawing aspect of them leading up to it and it was fun and ghostlike. they are of course landscape but from my head so there was a nice freedom from the photo reference.

So I made these little paintings by using very wet thinned down paint on a horizontal surface to they did not drip and it dried kind of nicely. Anyway can't wait to revisit them later and swee what is what. I don't know if I mentioned the installation yesterday bit I am really happy with the way it looks and three of the six will improve it still. Unfortunately hardly anyone will see it if they do not make it to the opening reception and that is ahard sell. Out of the way as it it.

I hope someone reads this somewhere out there in this huge plugged in world.
